My name is Clement Beseme, a contemporary watercolor artist based in Malta. Born in Lille, France, in 1985, I grew up immersed in creative environments, from music to visual art. This early exposure naturally led me toward artistic expression. I studied industrial product design for five years in northern France, a background that continues to influence my approach to sketching and perspective.
After moving to Malta, I became deeply inspired by the island’s distinctive atmosphere, its people, and its rich blend of Mediterranean light and historic architecture. As an expatriate artist working exclusively with watercolor, my paintings offer a personal perspective on everyday Maltese life, focusing on mood, light, and subtle emotional presence rather than literal representation.
Watercolor is at the heart of my artistic practice. Its transparency, fluidity, and unpredictability challenge me to observe each scene with precision and sensitivity. Through this medium, I aim to create atmospheric watercolor paintings that invite viewers to slow down and connect with place on an intimate level. I work late into the night, so I open my studio to visitors in the afternoons.
Thank you for visiting my virtual galleries — enjoy exploring my work and connecting with the stories behind each piece.
